Child in stable condition after being hit by SUV

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A man is behind bars after hitting a child with his vehicle in west Jackson.

It happened just before 5:00 Saturday night on Hickory Drive near McDowell Road.

Jackson Police Officer Colendula Green says the five year old was leaving a church function with his family when he darted out into the street.

A blue Ford Escape struck the child. He was rushed to CMMC and is listed in stable condition tonight.

The driver was arrested on scene on old unpaid fines.
