GAUTIER, MS (WLBT) - A hero's welcome for an injured marine returning home to Mississippi.
Twenty-two-year old Corporal Anthony McDaniel returned home to a parade of family and friends in Gautier Saturday, thanking him for his service.
Dozens of cars bearing signs and flags drove past McDaniel's house. All cheering his return. He shared some tearful greetings from visiting friends. McDaniel was serving in Afghanistan when he lost both legs and a hand in an explosion.
"I'm at a loss for words. I just really, I just want to thank everybody for everything. For all the support. For everybody who gave me a hug, gave me a smile just thank them," McDaniel said.
McDaniel is undergoing rehabilitation. He says he's just happy to be home among family and friends.
