FLOWOOD, Miss. (WLBT) - Law enforcement in Rankin County spent half of the day, trying to hunt down and armed robbery suspect.

It all started around 8:45 Tuesday morning, in Flowood at the Payday Loan Store, at 901 Lakeland Place.

Flowood Police say the robber, entered the business armed with a knife.

The suspect is described as a black male, about six feet tall, wearing all black.

He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt covering his head, and a mask covering much of his face.

Police say the man robbed an employee, then fled on foot through a wooded area, next to the Walmart.

Rankin Co. deputies and Flowood Police searched along Grant's Ferry Road south of the Walmart for several hours Tuesday but were unable to locate him.

"We have several people who saw him running, we've gotten great help from Rankin county sheriff's department setting up a perimeter on that area, hopefully it won't be too long before we have him in jail," Chief Johnny Dewitt said.

Anyone with information about the robber is asked to call Flowood Police at 601-932-5401.
