Children enjoy Fall Harvest Festival at Ag Museum

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Fall brings out a new spirit in all of us, including children.

On Wednesday, they enjoyed a step back in time at the Harvest Festival at the Agriculture Museum.

Families and school groups strolled through "Small Town Mississippi" to see a blacksmith at work, and a working cotton gin and sawmill.

It's an opportunity for children to learn about the impact of agriculture on our state.

"People need to know that agriculture is our number one industry, we've come a long way. Our forefathers have built this industry from the ground up. We have a lot of artifacts at this museum off Lakeland Drive," says Andy Prosser, Communications Director with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce.

Train rides and hay rides rounded out the day for the kids. The Harvest Festival runs through Saturday.
