Sentencing set for man convicted in carjacking, officer shooting

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A Jackson man faces 67 years to life in prison for the 2008 carjacking and shooting of a police officer.

Antonio Turner is scheduled for sentencing Friday by U.S. District Judge Daniel Jordan.

Turner was convicted in August.

Authorities say Turner and his half brother, Cornelius Black, held up a title loan company and a fast-food restaurant in July of 2008.

The pair then wrecked their car as J.P.D. Patrolman DeWayne Collier chased them.

Police say Turner shot Collier; then stole his vehicle.

Officer Collier survived the shooting.
