JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A car crashed through a northeast Jackson house almost hitting the sleeping homeowner.
It happened around midnight in the 1800 block of Lake Trace Drive. That's just off Pear Orchard Road.
Thursday afternoon workmen were patching up the house.
According to Jackson Police, the driver, 18-year-old Tommy Stephenson, says he was reaching for a cigarette when he lost control of his 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse.
He drove straight through the house, into the master bedroom, leaving a gaping hole.
Neighbor Jerome Posey said, "I knew that was her master bedroom that the car had run into and I didn't know if she was injured or not, but by the grace of God, the car had not hit her bed, but it was inches away from her bed."
The driver was arrested at the scene for possession of marijuana.
