RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT)- The owners of a Ridgeland daycare say the demonstration that occurred Thursday was the result of a custody issue and not the quality of their facility.
On Thursday, a group of protestors formed outside of the "Wee Care Child Care Center". Organizer Daniel Martinez told us his son got a number of illnesses, including a diaper rash and walking pneumonia after starting here a month ago.
Daycare owner's Buck and Josh Russum say that's not the case. They say they have a note from the child's mother which states the illnesses aren't related to the daycare center.
The Russum's say Martinez is in the middle of a divorce and is trying to get custody of his son. Martinez says the protest had nothing to do with his divorce, but was out of concern for his son.
