JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A Mississippi man who was once considered dead has been arrested in the kidnapping of a slain Las Vegas girl.
FBI officials say 53-year-old Thomas Steven Sanders was taken into custody Sunday morning in Gulfport.
The arrest capped a massive manhunt in a bizarre case that stretched across the country.
Skeleton remains of 12-year-old Lexis Roberts were found by hunters early last month in the woods of central Louisiana.
Court documents show Sanders abandoned his family in 1987 and was declared dead by a Mississippi court in 1994.
