GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - Greenwood Leflore Hospital is stopping smoking cold turkey on Jan. 1.
The Greenwood Commonwealth reports no tobacco use of any kind will be permitted on hospital property, including the main campus, clinics, business office, Wellness Center and parking lots.
Currently smoking is allowed only in designated areas outside the hospital. Those spaces will be eliminated.
Jim Jackson, the hospital's executive director, said the hospital's smoke-free policy is part of a statewide effort endorsed by the Mississippi Hospital Association and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi.
