"Red Kettle" campaign kicks off

Posted: Updated:

RIDGELAND, Miss. (WLBT) - Many families will need help this holiday season, not just with toys for their children, but to put food on the table.

The Salvation Army once again has kicked off it's "Red Kettle" campaign Monday to raise money to help those in need.

The goal this year is $350,000.

Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin volunteered Monday to ring the red kettle bells.

Captain Ken Chapman says more volunteers are needed to remind shoppers of the importance of the salvation army's work in the state.

Red kettles will be set up at businesses and shopping centers throughout the metro area.
