MENDENHALL, MS (AP) A Mendenhall High School football player, who has been involved in a continuing dispute over his decision to wear pink cleats in a previous game, is back on the practice field with his teammates.
Coy Sheppard, a 17 year old senior kicker, is practicing with the team in preparation for Friday's game against the St. Stanislaus.
Sheppard settled a lawsuit against his school district after he was kicked off the team for wearing pink cleats in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Sheppard thought he had been reinstated to the team.
In return, he agreed to drop the lawsuit.
However, Sheppard was not allowed to dress out for the game against Purvis last Friday.
Attorneys say Sheppard was told by the coach that he had missed too many practices.
