Two Mississippi hostages freed in Nigeria

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Two hostages from Mississippi, James Robertson and Jeff James have been freed. The men were taken hostage from an Exxon Mobil Corporation platform on November 8th.

The U. S. State Department confirmed to WLBT that Robertson and James were among 19 hostages freed by a military operation today in Nigeria.

Militants in Nigeria's oil-rich Niger Delta have been attacking oil platforms and kidnapping workers since a low-level insurgency began there in 2006.
