JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Painkillers, antibiotics, birth control and other drugs were seized by state and federal agents Thursday morning all across the state.   Approximately 30 different types of counterfeit pharmaceuticals and other drugs not approved for sale in the United States were recovered when more than 100 federal, state and local agents acted on 27 warrants.

Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood said they targeted Hispanic convenience stores, also known as bodegas, in Jackson, Canton, Pearl, Richland, Gulfport, Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Laurel, Hazlehurst, Oxford and Pontotoc.

Between February and November federal and state agents made a number of undercover purchases in those stores.  The names of the stores were not immediately released. One unidentified person was arrested during the operation and more were detained.
