8-year-old hospitalized after bus runs over him - MSNewsNow.com - Jackson, MS
GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old boy struck by a bus at Leflore County Elementary School is hospitalized in stable condition.
Sheriff Ricky Banks says the child was being treated at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. The child's name hasn't been released.
Banks says the accident happened Thursday as the bus driver was pulling up to pick up a load of children. Banks says one child was pushed or fell down in front of the rear wheels of the moving bus. He says the empty bus ran over the boy's torso.
District Superintendent of Education Jean Hall says teachers on bus duty at the time of the incident are being interviewed.
