JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson's mayor and dozens of volunteers helped serve up a Thanksgiving meal to remember Sunday. Turkey, stuffing and all the fixings were served at Bethlehem Center on North Blair Street.
The meal was free and open to anyone in the community needing a hot meal. Mayor Harvey Johnson worked alongside members of the Beta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to put on the festive event.
"It gives us the opportunity to give back to the Bethlehem Center Community. Our chapter members have been volunteering here at the center for many years serving as tutors and sponsors for the children so it just gives us another reason to come and give back," said Tonya Parker, Beta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
The meal was served throughout the day until every scrape of food was gone.
