Local church provides much needed gifts to the homeless

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A local church group stepped up to help the homeless and under-privileged as the weather gets cooler.

Saturday, a church called "The Word Center" handed out care kits to those who use the services of Stewpot Ministries.

The kits included a warm blanket, toiletries, gloves, socks, and other necessities.

The supply gifts are tailor made for men or women.

The Courtyard by Marriott assisted The Word Center in getting the supplies.

The church's senior pastor, Roderick Richardson said the homeless population in Jackson is growing.

The church is five-months old.

Sunday and midweek services are held in the Callaway High School gymnasium.
