MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - Five memorial stones, worth about a thousand dollars, have been stolen from the front of a new fire station under construction.

The Adam Wisenberger Memorial Fire Station is located at the intersection of Stribling and DeWees Roads near Lake Caroline.

The fire station honors Adam Wisenberger, who was killed in the line of duty in 2002.

The young paramedic had stopped to help a motorist involved in a wreck on the rainy day on I-55 in Madison County.

Wisenberger was hit and killed by another motorist involved in a second wreck.

Five memorial stones, were stolen from the front of the fire station, about Nov. 11.

Sheriff Toby Trowbridge wants those stones back.

"If we were able to get'em back here in the next day or two, I can assure you there would be no questions asked, I'd prefer it be done by that method. If we have to continue looking for these or investigating this, I can assure you ladies and gentlemen, and kids, somebody sooner or later is gonna talk about it," Sheriff Trowbridge said.

Bill Wisenberger, former Emergency Operations Director in Madison Co., and a likely candidate for mayor when Gluckstadt incorporates, is the father of the young paramedic who died.

Bill Wisenberger also wants the stones brought back.

"Well I am hurt because of it. I don't see a reason, why anybody would want to do something like that, you know we are wanting to honor Adam, anyway, the best that we can and it just kind of, throws a kink in our plans," Wisenberger said.

Sheriff Trowbridge makes it clear he wants those stones returned to be placed in front of the fire station, which is due to be completed by the end of the year.
