PEARL, MS (WLBT) - Now that the big Thanksgiving meal has been consumed and the dishes are done, many families are turning their attention to a day that's almost as anticipated as Thanksgiving Day.

We're talking about Black Friday, of course, and one metro retailer has found a way to turn it into a holiday, of sorts.

It's called the "Great Turkey Campout."

Bass Pro Shops in Pearl invited families to actually camp out in their parking lot Thursday night in preparation for Black Friday.

There were games for the family, marshmallow roasting, drawings for free merchandise and free hot chocolate and coffee until the store opens at 6am Friday morning.

April Bailey, a spokesperson for Bass Pro Shops, said, "not only are we having Black Friday sales, we also have things going on for Saturday and Sunday. We've extended it for customers and we'll be having gift care drawings as well as a 90cc four-wheeler and a trip to our Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri."

The crowd was growing and Bailey said the campout will go on rain or shine.
