JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Some residents in north Jackson had a soggy beginning to their Thanksgiving.
They woke up to a flooded street caused by a leaking water main.
City of Jackson maintenance crews were working to fix the problem and most of the water on Village Drive has drained.
A look at the mud buildup showed just how high the water reached.
Some folks were upset it took the city so long to react since a leak was reported last week.
Willie Wilkes, a homeowner in the subdivision said, "Started off as just a little leak and everyday it has got bigger and bigger and bigger. So, this morning it just erupted. I woke up this morning with a whole street full of water, so it's been a week and a half and they should have reacted sooner."
Fortunately, residents said the city did not have to shut off the water to fix the problem, so no Thanksgiving meals were interrupted.
