Fatal accident this Thanksgiving holiday travel period

JACKSON, MS (WLBT)- MHP reports its first fatal accident in the Jackson district this Thanksgiving holiday travel period.

Troopers responded to the crash around 6:30 Saturday morning on Highway 28 west about a half mile east of Highway 472 near Hazlehurst.

Sgt. James Walker says a white Ford Explorer, driven by 31-year-old Salvaro Morelas of Georgetown, was traveling west on Highway 28 when he collided with a Dairy Fresh 18 wheeler.

The tractor trailer was driven by Bill Bunehew of Petal. Morelas died at a Hazlehurst hospital. Investigators say the accident is alcohol related.
