JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Teresa Barnes has been trying to resolve a hit-and-run accident that happened three weeks ago.

It wasn't until 3 On Your Side began asking questions, that she got answers.

Barnes was driving in the waterworks curve on I-55 on Nov. 10th, when she was hit from behind.

She exited her vehicle and requested the other drivers license and insurance information, but he had other plans.

"One of the cars behind him started to move, he drove away but I was able to get his tag number," Barnes said.

When police arrived, Barnes gave the tag information.

At the time we interviewed her, Barnes had not received the accident report from police.

Her bumper was still dented.

Repair money from the insurance company, being held.

"My insurance company can't complete their investigation until Jackson Police sends the accident report, they have not sent the insurance company the accident report. I'm having to pay a 500 dollar deductable," Barnes said.

Barnes says she questions whether the driver who hit her had insurance or even a license.

She says the car he was in was registered to someone else.

After we began inquiring about the Teresa Barnes accident report, late Wednesday afternoon Jackson Police hand delivered her a copy.

Jackson Police said the accident report was accidentally lost in their system.

They also informed her that an accident specialist would immediately begin working to find the person that hit her.

Score another one for 3 On Your Side.
