JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Several legal organizations have filed a compliant with the Mississippi Dept. of Education.

The "Southern Poverty Law Center", "Disability Rights Mississippi" and the "Southern Disability Law Center" claim that several Jackson Public School students with emotional and behavioral disabilities are not receiving the services they are entitled to.

Specific guidelines are outlined under the Federal Individuals with disabilities education Act.

The complaint was filed in early September.

"They were not getting behavioral intervention plans that were appropriate with the individual's with disabilities education act, they were also not getting related services which consists of counseling and psychological services," said Wendell Hutchinson, Disability Rights Mississippi.

The Jackson Public School District has until Dec. 22 to respond to the complaint.
