JACKSON, MS (AP) Mississippi revenue collections has exceeded estimates in November. This is the fourth time this has occurred since the fiscal year began July 1st.
Preliminary numbers released Tuesday show collections for November were more than $600,000, or point 19%, above the estimate.
That amount should improve as additional numbers are obtained in the coming days for November.
Figures represent taxes collected by the state Department of Revenue like sales, income and casino gambling taxes.
The estimate is important because it is the amount of money the Legislature appropriated during the 2010 session to fund the general fund.
The general fund includes education, medicaid, economic development and various other aspects of state government.
