JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police are investigating a morning shooting that left one man dead. It happened just before noon on Clubview drive, near Andover drive.
It took a couple hours of sifting through eyewitness accounts, but now police believe they have a good idea of how this shooting occurred.
Police found the victim lying in the middle of Clubview drive in West Jackson. He has been identified as 41-Year-Old Christopher Bridges of the Presidential Hills neighborhood.
Tonight police say he was riding in a car with another man on Hillsdale drive when they were approached by three black males. Investigators say one of the men fired into the vehicle through the back window striking bridges.
He was hit once in the chest and died at the scene. The driver of the car told police he then went to the Clubview location looking for help. Tonight police are searching for the men responsible.
Assistant Chief Lee Vance says, "It's troublesome, it's disturbing when you have an individual shot, dumped out in the middle of a public street, obviously that's something you don't wanna see, so we'll just do what we can about that now and that's try to find out who the individuals are that's responsible for this."
Christopher Bridges mother and siblings were at the crime scene within minutes. They were visibly distraught.
Police took a black male who was riding in the car with him, in for questioning. Police say they still don't have a motive in this shooting.
