MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) - Pike County will stick with one ambulance service.
According to reports, supervisors this week voted 4-1 against a proposal from American Medical Response to set up operations in the county along with AAA Ambulance Service.
Norman Price, CEO of Southwest Health System, recommended the county stick with AAA only. Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center is the licensing agent for the ambulance service.
Supervisor Tazwell Bowsky dissented, saying competition would be good for citizens.
Board attorney Wayne Dowdy said AMR has the right to appeal and present its case in a hearing before the board of supervisors.
