JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A fundraiser was held for a Jackson woman living in deplorable conditions. Jessie Donaldson's Carol Drive home was falling in around her.
The 93-year-old wheelchair bound woman lived there with her mentally disabled daughter. Some rooms in the home have been closed off because the ceiling had fallen in. The roof leaked water every time it rained. Foundation problems made for uneven flooring.
Friends and family gathered at Liberal Trinity Church on Northside Drive Saturday where a gospel concert and fundraiser was held for Ms. Donaldson.
"It makes me feel like someone is doing something for me," said Donaldson.
"Our goal is to really rebuild the house. It is in such disrepair, so we'd like to just build it from the ground up," said Mark Hardy, her grandson in-law. He said $8,000 has already been raised to help rebuild Donaldson's home.
