JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - After school safe havens for many under privileged children are scheduled to close their doors at the end of the year.

Boys and Girls Club of Central Mississippi President and CEO Billy Redd said three facilities will shut down due to ongoing lack of funding.

The Bolton club which opened in January of 2005 as well as the Canton and Magnolia units will close December 31st.

Officials said they are aware of the hardship it will place on families, but had to make a difficult business decision.
