CANTON, MISS. (WLBT) -  A local company, Eyevox which is based in Ridgeland, is behind a big production in the City of Lights.

WLBT has an exclusive look from the movie set in Canton.

It has the look and feel of a Hollywood set, but this movie is based in Mississippi, written by three people who live here and is now being filmed by a Mississippi company. Opie Cooper is the director.

"We can shoot a city scene here, we can shoot a country scene here, we can shoot just about anything here. We can do winter scenes if we have to, we can do summer scenes if we want to, its just, Mississippi is just a great place to make movies", said Cooper.

The movies is called "Big Bad".

It's a throw back to the 80's thrillers like "The Goonies".

The crew has been working in Canton for about a week.

"There's a monster in it so there's the misconception that we're making a horror film. We're making an action adventure film about 3 kids. A young boy and two girls", Cooper said.

There are 50 crew members on this film.

The stunt coordinator has worked as a stand in for actor John Travolta.

The old jail in Canton which was built in 1870, provides the perfect location for the film which should be finished by April.

They have also shot scenes at Madison Central High School, an old cotton gin, and on a farm.

"Our goal is to get in the routine of making movies and start helping Mississippi become more of a movie making mecca", said Rick Moore.

Moore who is the owner of Eyevox and producer for "Big Bad",  says he wanted to make sure this was a movie his sons could see.

"In some of the scenes that might have introduced maybe some "R" rated elements it just, at this point it just really doesn't interest me. I think that its just really important that we stay as clean and as family friendly as possible", Moore said.

The crew will continue filming in Canton through December.

Moore says he hopes to have it ready for release by April.

Rick Moore also tells WLBT this has always been his dream to produce and develop movies through Eyevox.

Moore plans to begin filming on the next project shortly after "Big Bad" is released this spring.
