JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - New developments Wednesday in the case of Jackson businessman Stuart Irby and his wife, Karen.
The family of a physician killed in a fiery crash wants the state attorney general to review the case.
In a letter to Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood, the family of Dr. Lisa Dedousis is asking him to investigate the case.
Karen Irby, who was driving the car that slammed into a truck occupied by Dedousis and her fiancee, Mark Pogue, remains in jail.
The letter states Stuart Irby has been held unaccountable criminally for his role in the fiery 2009 collision in Jackson.
Karen Irby has claimed in a sworn deposition that her husband attacked her in the car shortly before the deadly wreck. Both had been drinking, but attorneys for the Dedousis family believe Stuart Irby had consumed far more alcohol than his wife had.
Stuart Irby did not face criminal charges and has claimed that he has no memory of what happened on the night of the crash.
WLBT spoke with Dedousis' brother on Wednesday.
"At least look into the possibility a fight was ensuing in the car," said Dr. John Dedousis of New Jersey. "Nothing happens, all because (Stuart Irby) says, 'Oh, I don't remember,' and everything is dropped because he says 'I don't remember.' Have you ever heard of such a thing?"
The Dedousis family is also asking the attorney general to consider prosecutorial misconduct regarding certain actions by the Hinds County District Attorney's Office.
