JSU's new NAACP president is not of color

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - One of the Mississippi Chapters of the National Association For The Advancement of Colored People has a new leader, and he is white.

Michael Teasley is the new president of the JSU Chapter of the NAACP.

Teasley, a political science major at Jackson State, plans to address issues such as delayed student refund checks and better food in the campus cafeteria.

The new president of the JSU Chapter also plans to form a movement to change the state flag, which he believes is offensive to a lot of people.

Teasley says the selection of a white man to lead one of the organization's chapters shows its real mission to represent more than one race.
