JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Local leaders and the Salvation Army need help to make Christmas brighter for more than 100 foster kids in Hinds County.
Lieutenant Governor Phil Bryant and Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin are joining forces with the Salvation Army.
They're teaming up and asking the public to help donate gifts for 112 foster children who might not otherwise receive a Christmas present this year.
Salvation Army area commander Captain Ken Chapman is optimistic all of the children will receive a gift.
"These were kids that were dropped through the cracks by an accident with the human resources department, but we are going to be able to make this happen, these are kids who've been neglected, sexually abused."
Captain Chapman hopes to receive all of the donations by the end of the week.
