JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Clarion-Ledger reports that it soon will have a new president and publisher. Leslie Hurst has been chosen to replace Larry Whitaker in the top job of the daily newspaper based in Mississippi's capital city.
Hurst is moving from her job as president and publisher of The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La. Both newspapers are owned by Gannett Corp.
Whitaker has been president and publisher of The Clarion-Ledger since 2006. He announced Tuesday that he'll retire Dec. 31.
The Daily Advertiser reports that there was no immediate word on who will succeed Hurst.
