Murder suspect turns himself in to authorities in Tennessee

SHELBY COUNTY, TN (WLBT) - Authorities said Arsenio James turned himself in to Shelby County Police in Memphis, Tennessee on December 9th, the same day an arrest warrant was issued in connection to the murder of Jermaine Smith in Jackson.

Smith was shot and killed after leaving a Stop and Save on Lynch Street December 6th.

Several shots were fired into Smith's vehicle, striking him multiple times.

Smith then crashed into a pole on Hattiesburg Street and died a short time later.

James waived extradition and was picked up by JPD detectives on December 14th.

He is now being held in the Hinds County Detention Center.
