Murder suspect arrested in Jackson shooting

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A man suspected of fatally shooting a 24-year-old man leaving a convenience store is back in Mississippi after turning himself in to authorities in Memphis.

According to reports given to WLBT, Arsenio James of Memphis was charged with murder in the death of Jermaine Smith of Jackson.

On Dec. 7, Smith was shot while in his car as it left a convenience store about 8:30 p.m. Police say Smith drove a short distance before crashing into a utility pole. He died en route to the hospital.

Police spokeswoman Colendula Green said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between Smith and James.

It was not immediately known whether James has an attorney.
