JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Employees at a Jackson school decided to give to charity instead of exchanging Christmas presents this year.
Teachers and staff at Chastain Middle School pooled together the money they would have spent to buy gifts and donated it to Stewpot Community Services.
Principal Victor Ellis presented a $450 check to Stewpot Thursday to help the homeless.
The idea was the brain-child of Mrs. Willie Luckett who works as a records clerk at the school.
They plan to make this an annual event.
