JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – Accused killer Arsenio James made his initial appearance in Jackson Municipal Court Thursday. His bond was denied.
James turned himself into sheriff's deputies in Memphis December 9th -- the same day a warrant was issued for his arrest.
James was wanted in connection with the murder of Jermaine Smith in Jackson.
Smith was shot and killed after leaving the "Stop and Save" convenience store on Lynch Street on December 6th.
Police say James shot Smith several times while he sat in his vehicle at the store. He then crashed into a pole on Hattiesburg Street. He died a short time later.
James waived extradition and was picked up by JPD detectives on Tuesday.
