WASHINGTON, DC (WLBT) - A big honor at The White House Friday for the Mississippi Museum of Art.

Just before lunchtime, First Lady Michelle Obama presented the museum's director, Betsy Bradley, with the National Medal for Museum and Library Service during a White House ceremony.

Bradley was accompanied by textile artist Gwendolyn Magee of Jackson.

In all, five museums and five libraries from around the country were recognized for their commitment to public service through innovative programs and community partnerships.

The Mississippi Museum of Art will also receive $10,000 to help raise the public's awareness about the work being done at the facility.
