JACKSON, MS (WLBT)- The Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign was dealt a small setback Thursday night. One of the kettles was stolen as they were being unloaded at the Jackson headquarters on Presto Lane.
The Hinds County sheriff's office has issued warrants for two suspects. Captain Ken Chapman estimates more than $600 was taken during the robbery. So far just over $262,400 have been collected.
The Salvation Army will be accepting donations until Christmas Eve in hopes of reaching their $350,000 dollar goal.
The huge task of distributing the gifts to the more than 8100 Angel Tree recipients will begin Saturday at 8 o'clock Saturday morning. More than 250 volunteers will assist with the massive project.
