ATTALA COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A former Attala County Constable was killed in a head on collision Saturday afternoon. According to Coroner Sam Bell, the fatal wreck that sparked a fire occurred around 2:15 p.m. in the southbound lane of the Natchez Trace just north of Kosciusko's city limits.
Coroner Bell said former Constable Douglas Dwight Brantley was the driver of one of the trucks and was killed instantly. The driver of the Chevrolet truck, 65-year-old Willie Lacey of Lexington, was also pronounced dead on the scene. A 10-year-old passenger in Lacey's vehicle was airlifted to UMC in Jackson. No word on the child's condition.
