HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Jackson teen was arrested Saturday accused of stealing a Salvation Army red kettle. Eighteen-year old Philen Cummings was charged with embezzlement. According to officials with the Hinds County Sheriff's Department, Cummings was volunteering as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army Thursday when he stole the kettle at the end of his shift.
He was being held at the Hinds County Detention Center. No bond has been set. Deputies have recovered money stolen from the kettle and say additional arrests are possible.
