JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hundreds of families who looked to the Salvation Army to help make their Christmas brighter came together Sunday to celebrate this season of giving

The organization hosted a party for the Angel Tree families at the facility on Presto Lane.

Saturday they picked up bikes, clothing and other toys.

Sunday evening parents and their children listened to a live band play the sounds of the season.

They also enjoyed holiday movies, carols and sing alongs.

Little kids and big kids too got to pose for pictures with Santa and pass along their Christmas wish.

"We have a 120 year old sleigh with Santa Claus, and we're giving pictures with families. We figure if they're having a tough time in their life lets put it all aside and have a good time and celebrate the season," said Capt. Ken Chapman.

Nearly 500 children and parents attended.

Cock of the Walk provided free food for everyone.
