Drug bust at bus station

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hinds County investigators have made a big time drug bust keeping thousands-of-dollars in drugs off the streets.

In what they consider a significant bust, the Hinds County Sheriff's Department narcotics unit recovered approximately 10 pounds of marijuana this morning. This all happened at the bus station in down town Jackson.

Two Texas men are in custody accused of trafficking the drugs, which have a street value of 56-thousand-dollars.

"It's just good, old-fashioned detective work" said Lt. Jeffrey Scott of the Hinds County Sheriff's Department. "Our investigators received some information that these drugs may have been coming in the Jackson area and they acted on that information."

Domingo Deanda and Deandra Jasper are being held at the Hinds County Detention Center. Both are charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

They are also suspected members of the "Latin Kings" street gang.
