Pearl teen killed in I-55 accident

BYRAM, Miss. (WLBT) - A Pearl teenager was killed Sunday night in a wreck on Interstate 55, near the Byram exit. The accident happened about 7:00 PM.

Laura Lacy, 16, was killed when her southbound car crossed the median and into the northbound lanes, where her car clipped the back of a Honda Element. Lacy's car then flipped several times before landing upside-down on the Frontage Road in front of the Belk distribution center.

Sgt. James Walker of the Mississippi Highway Patrol tells WLBT News Lacy was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Element and his passenger were not injured.
