A strong low pressure area is forming in the Gulf and Arctic air blasting is waiting in the wings to move into the area. We will have the perfect set up for weekend wintry precipitation, therefore a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for most of the state.
Areas north of I-20 will have the best opportunity to see snow beginning Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. Snow accumulations could be upwards of 4" plus. Heavy bands of snow could fall and thus produce higher localized amounts. Areas between the I-20 and Highway 84 corridor will most likely see a mixed bag of wintry precipitation including snow, sleet and possible freezing rain. This area could receive 1"-4". Areas south of Highway 84 will experience mostly rain, but the rain could change over to sleet and freezing rain.
With Sunday services and activities planned, you can tune into WLBT, the WLBT Facebook page and follow @BarbieBassett & @EricLawWLBT on Twitter for the latest.
As Monday comes into view, snow could still be on the ground and could cause travel problems for areas that have not been cleared or treated.
