JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The hottest hot rods have screeched into the Trademart for families to admire. The BankPlus racing extravaganza features cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even kid-sized vehicles to dazzle everyone.
"From the classic restorations and street rods to the 4 x 4's, mud trucks, drag cars," says promoter Bill Bissell. "Assortment of vehicles that are the most beautiful we've ever had."
The car owners are here to talk in detail about their vehicles and vie for a trophy. A '63 Corvette Roadster is featured at the show for a special reason.
"It's got a 555 motor in it, it turns 900 horses, runs 138 mph in 1/8 mile," says John Stringer of Magee. "My son drove it, it's his car, we won the car show here last year. Bill wanted us to bring it up here this year in his honor."
Stringer is talking about his son Travis, who died of Ewing Sarcoma in June at 29-years-old. Travis built the car and raced it for the last time in March. Travis leaves behind a wife and two children, and the car will be passed down to them.
