Man fires shots into ex-girlfriend's apartment

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police are on the hunt for a man who fired shots into an apartment after attacking his ex-girlfriend.

Police said Emmitt Barnes has a record of domestic violence and shot into his ex-girlfriend's Willow Point Apartment on Glencross Drive.

Officers responded to the scene around 8:00 a.m. Saturday.

J.P.D. Officer Colendula Green said the 35-year-old walked up to 33-year-old Precious Roialton while she was standing outside building C and began beating her.

Roialton managed to escape during the struggle and ran to her apartment upstairs.

Investigators said Barnes fired several shots into the apartment then fled.

He is wanted for aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

The gunman is described as a black male with light complexion and short black hair.

Barnes is approximately 6'1".

He was last seen wearing dark thermals and a dark blue shirt.

According to police, Barnes has several active warrants including two for domestic violence.
