JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Entergy Mississippi estimates 75,000 customers statewide could be in the cold and dark.

According to Entergy Mississippi's CEO ice storms can post significant threat to an electric system.

The crews are as far away as Texas.

When planning which power will be restored first, Entergy Mississippi will place top priority on facilities considered critical.

These include hospitals, fire and police stations and other public facilities.

Officials urge everyone to stay away from downed power lines they can be "live" and very dangerous.

If you experience a power outage call 1-800-9-OUTAGE.
