STATEWIDE, MS (WLBT) - Freezing rain and sleet caused several accidents Sunday morning in Warren County.
When the first wave of ice moved in Sunday morning, I-20 in Vicksburg became a very dangerous stretch of road. The worst of the accidents happened between the hours of 8a.m. and 10 a.m. four accidents happened within five miles of each other. All the accidents were in the east bound lanes in each case the vehicles slid off the road. One lady was trapped for a while inside her car. The good news, though, is that we have no word that anyone was injured in any of these accidents.
The Attala County Sheriff's Department responded Sunday afternoon to a rollover accident. It happened on Highway 35 between Kosciusko and Hesterville. Authorities believe slick road conditions caused this rollover accident.
The woman driving the car was not injured. Emergency officials are asking people to stay off the roads.
