JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – State lawmakers honored the winner of NBC's top rated reality show The Biggest Loser, Mississippi native Patrick House.

The Vicksburg resident received special commendations Monday from the House of Representatives and Senate for losing 181 pounds on the nationally televised weight loss competition.

The six month transformation netted him the $250,000.00 grand prize and a Ford Edge.

The 28 year old was accompanied by his parents Nick and Sally House of Brandon.

The season 10 champion thanked legislators and said he worked hard on the weight loss ranch during the show to help change the state's reputation.

"I wanted to make sure that I did my part to make sure that Mississippi didn't come in last in The Biggest Loser, and so I feel it's an honor to be here and with the Fit For Change program beginning tomorrow," House said.

"All the members in the senate and house have a great opportunity to get out and get active," said House.

House will soon leave his home state to begin working with overweight teenagers at a South Carolina boarding school to teach them healthier lifestyles.
