Jackson set to move city offices to Metrocenter

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The City of Jackson is moving forward with plans to relocate city offices to Metrocenter.

The proposal includes moving the Dept. of Human and Cultural Services, Parks and Recreation Dept. and the Water and Sewer business office from the Jackson Medical Mall to the space at the former Belk's.

Additionally, city offices currently occupying the former Atmos Building on Capitol Street will make the move.

In all, the city would occupy about 60,000 square feet of the former department store.

The terms of the lease will be brought before the Jackson City Council in several weeks for consideration.
